Tips to improve your mini golf skills

Gentle hits, not hard swings

Mastering mini golf is less about power and more about precision. Unlike traditional golf, where strong swings cover great distances, mini golf is all about soft, calculated shots. This approach allows for better control and accuracy, essential for tackling the imaginative obstacles each hole presents.

It’s tempting to swing hard, but hard hits often lead to overshooting, disrupting your game flow. Instead, focus on the finesse of your stroke. Watch the course, understand its quirks, and adjust your touch accordingly.

Remember, in mini golf, it’s the subtlety of your shot that determines success, turning each gentle tap into a strategic move. By embracing this skilful approach, you’ll find yourself not only improving your game but also enjoying the nuanced challenge that makes mini golf a uniquely entertaining experience.

Play smart with angles

In mini golf, playing smart with angles is not just a strategy, it’s an art! Obstacles are part of the charm, and the walls aren’t just barriers but allies. When faced with the obstacles between your ball and the hole, consider the walls as guides. Aiming your putt towards the right spot on the wall can help you navigate around challenges, using the rebound to your advantage.

It’s helpful to observe and account for any irregularities like bumps or cracks that might alter the ball’s path. Instead of a direct, often obstructed path to the hole, look for smoother, more strategic routes. By analysing angles and planning your shots with these nuances in mind, you can transform seemingly tricky shots into successful putts.

Enjoy the experience

Try using lesser-known strategies or tactics that add a twist to your gameplay. This exploration not only improves your skills but also keeps the game fresh and exciting. Why not sprinkle in your own fun rules? Maybe a bonus point for a trick shot or a “penalty” for a missed putt.

Laughter and light-hearted challenges can transform the atmosphere, making each round more than just a game but an adventure. Encourage everyone to adopt this fun approach, fostering a spirit of companionship and enjoyment.

Mini golf in London, after all, is a social sport where the pleasure of playing can be as rewarding as the thrill of winning. This attitude helps create a welcoming, inclusive environment, making the game enjoyable for players of all skill levels.

Think positive for every putt

Adopting a positive mindset for every putt in mini golf is a game-changer. Begin by visualising the perfect shot; this mental imagery primes your mind and body for success. Picture the ball smoothly gliding along the course, curving just right, and ultimately sinking into the hole.

This positive visualisation boosts confidence and focus. Alongside this, don’t overlook the basics like proper stance, grip, and the angle of your putt. These fundamentals are the foundation of a good shot. While playing, maintain a positive inner dialogue. Encourage yourself with thoughts like, “I’ve got this,” or, “I can make this shot.”

This positive thinking not only enhances your performance but also keeps the game enjoyable, regardless of the outcome. This approach is not just about improving your score; it’s about fostering a positive and enjoyable experience on the mini golf course, where each putt is met with optimism and a smile.

I go here with my son and it is a very enjoyable place. The driving range has games you can play as the ball is tracked. We pay for two hours and play a virtual round of golf and then see who can drive the furthest. Food and drink is a little bit overpriced and they keep running out of draught beer.
